A rich and creamy beef stroganoff recipe inspired by Gordon Ramsay, featuring tender beef, earthy mushrooms, and a luxurious sauce that brings comfort and sophistication to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 600 g rib-eye steak, trimmed and pounded to ¾ cm thick
  • 300 g cremini mushrooms, sliced ⅛-inch thick
  • 1 medium onion, thin-sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 150 ml full-fat sour cream
  • 500 ml low-salt beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp plain flour
  • 2 Tbsp neutral oil, for searing
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped chives, for garnish
  • Egg noodles or tagliatelle, for serving

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef by heating 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over high heat. Pat the rib-eye steak slices dry and season with salt and pepper. Cook in batches until browned and set aside.
  2. Sauté the onions and mushrooms in the same skillet with 2 tablespoons of butter until softened and golden, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Create the sauce by adding plain flour, stirring for about 1 minute, then slowly pouring in beef broth while scraping the pan. Stir in Dijon mustard and sour cream.
  4. Add back the seared beef into the sauce, simmering for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  6. Prep your noodles according to package instructions.

Notes

Serve the stroganoff over cooked noodles and garnish with chopped chives or parsley. For extra flair, serve with crusty bread.
