Cinnamon Apple Bread

A cozy and delightful bread that combines the flavors of cinnamon and sweet apples, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet gift.

  • 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  4. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one by one and then mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry mixture with the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  7. Fold in the chopped apples to ensure even distribution.
  8. Transfer the batter into your greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Sprinkle the extra brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the top of the batter.
  10. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool the bread in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  12. Prepare the glaze by whisking together the confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and slice to serve.

Notes

Serve warm with a pat of butter or cream cheese. Try adding nuts or a chocolate twist for variations.
