Fluffy Focaccia

This fluffy focaccia recipe is the perfect way to bring friends and family together with its irresistible aroma and delicious flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (to drizzle onto the pan)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (aim for about 100°F)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (for the dough)
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast (or active dry yeast)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes (for garnish)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped oregano

Instructions

  1. Prepare your dough: In a big bowl, whisk together the warm water and 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Gradually stir in the instant yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, 1 1/4 teaspoons of salt, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and oregano. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Combine wet and dry: Slowly pour the warm-water mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients. Using a wooden spoon or your hands, bring it all together.
  4. Knead it out: Transfer the dough onto a well-floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. The first rise: Place your dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Prep the space: Grease a baking sheet with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  7. Shape the focaccia: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto the prepared baking sheet. Press it into the pan.
  8. Create dents and second rise: Poke dimples all over the top of the dough. Cover and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven: During the last rise, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  10. Finish with flavors: Drizzle more olive oil on top and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  11. Bake it to perfection: Slide your baking pan into the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Cool and delight: Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
