Ground Beef Meatballs and Gravy

A hearty plate of ground beef meatballs smothered in rich gravy, perfect for comfort food lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Mix the Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine your ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Use your clean hands—trust me, it’s the best tool you have! Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the Meatballs: Using about 2 tablespoons of the mixture for each meatball, roll them gently into balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Brown the Meatballs: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the meatballs. Brown them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden.
  4. Prepare the Gravy: In the same skillet, add the flour. Stir for about 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, letting it simmer and thicken—approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Combine Meatballs and Gravy: Return the meatballs to the skillet, ensuring they’re coated in the gravy. Reduce heat to low and cover, letting them simmer for another 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve Hot: Check for seasoning and adjust with salt or pepper if needed. Serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, or roasted vegetables.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the meatball mixture to keep them tender. You can freeze leftover meatballs and gravy for up to 3 months.
