Homemade Lemon Sorbet

A refreshing lemon sorbet that’s simple to make and perfect for hot summer days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Juice those lemons by slicing them in half and using a citrus juicer to extract the juice.
  2. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice and zest once the syrup has cooled.
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  5. Pour the chilled lemon mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Transfer the churned sorbet into a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours.
  7. Serve the sorbet in bowls, garnished with fresh mint or extra lemon zest.

Notes

For a fizzy twist, replace some water with lemon-flavored sparkling water. To make without an ice cream maker, freeze the mixture and stir every 30 minutes.
