Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta

A delightful blend of buttery shrimp, aromatic garlic, and a luscious creamy sauce, perfect for cozy family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) linguine or spaghetti pasta
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (120 ml) chicken broth (or pasta water)
  • ½ cup (50 g) Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add linguine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, reserving ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add shrimp, season with salt and black pepper, and sauté for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  3. Build the Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in Italian seasoning and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine with Cheese: Once the cream is bubbly, stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
  5. Toss Everything Together: Add cooked pasta and sautéed shrimp to the skillet, coating them in the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  6. Plate and Garnish: Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan if desired.
