Sweet and Savory Salmon Marinade

A delightful marinade combining the umami depth of soy sauce with the gentle sweetness of honey, perfect for grilling salmon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 6 ounces salmon fillet

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, and olive oil. Whisk these together until the honey is completely dissolved.
  2. Add Aromatics: Toss in the minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.
  3. Marinate the Salmon: Place your salmon fillet in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the top, ensuring the fish is completely coated.
  4. Preheat the Grill: Light the coals for a charcoal grill or preheat a gas grill to medium-high (about 400°F).
  5. Grill the Salmon: Carefully take the salmon out of the marinade and place the fillet skin-side down on the grill. Grill for about 6-8 minutes.
  6. Flip and Finish: Gently flip the salmon over and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.

Notes
