Delightfully Refreshing Grapefruit Sorbet

A light, zesty sorbet made from fresh grapefruit juice and zest, perfect for hot summer days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoons Grated Grapefruit Zest
  • 1 cup Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until dissolved to create simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Zest and juice the grapefruits while the syrup cools. Use fresh grapefruit for the best flavor.
  3. Mix the cooled syrup with grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and zest in a large bowl. Whisk thoroughly.
  4. Churn in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions for 20-30 minutes, or freeze in a shallow dish if you don’t have one.
  5. Stir the mixture every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours if freezing without a machine, then freeze until firm.
  6. Serve in chilled bowls or cones, optionally garnished with mint or grapefruit peel.

Notes

For variations, try adding rosemary, a dash of spice, prosecco, or fruit berries to the mix.
