Steak Grain Bowl

A vibrant and customizable steak grain bowl featuring succulent steak on a bed of nutty farro and seasonal roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

  • Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank)
  • Farro (or quinoa/brown rice for gluten-free)
  • Roasted vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, sweet potatoes)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Smoked paprika or garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the farro by cooking according to package instructions, generally using a 1:2 ratio of farro to water. Simmer until tender, about 25-30 minutes.
  2. Season the steak by letting it come to room temperature, patting it dry and rubbing with olive oil, salt, pepper, and your favorite seasonings.
  3. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  4. Roast the vegetables by cutting them into pieces, tossing with olive oil and salt, then spreading on a baking sheet. Roast for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Cook the steak in a hot skillet with olive oil for 3-4 minutes on each side until a crust forms and reach desired doneness.
  6. Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
  7. Fluff the farro with a fork when it’s done.
  8. Assemble your bowl by layering farro as the base, topping with roasted vegetables and sliced steak.

Notes

For additional flavor, try infusing olive oil with herbs, adding sriracha for heat, or swapping steak for grilled portobello mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
