Vampire Donuts

Delightfully spooky Vampire Donuts with chocolate icing and marshmallow fangs, perfect for Halloween festivities!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch of yeast donuts (homemade or store-bought)
  • Chocolate icing (about 2 cups)
  • Marshmallow fangs (12-24 pieces)
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Prepare the donut dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add in the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour and salt, kneading until you have a smooth, elastic dough.
  4. Let the dough rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes.
  5. Shape the donuts: Roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out your donuts.
  6. Final rise: Place the shaped donuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Fry the donuts: Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry them in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. Make the chocolate icing: Melt chocolate in a bowl until smooth and glossy.
  9. Decorate with the fangs: Dip the cooled donuts into the chocolate icing, then press in marshmallow fangs while the chocolate is still wet.
  10. Add the blood: Drip red food coloring onto the edges of each donut for a “blood” effect.

Notes

Ensure the donuts rise properly for a fluffy texture. Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature while frying.
